Further 5 years' funding for NIHR HPRU in EZI

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a further £4 m by the NIHR to continue our research over the next 5 years.  The HPRU in Emerging and Zoonotic Infections continues the partnership between the University of Liverpool, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and Public Health England, and we are enhanced by the addition of University of Oxford. It will have three major programmes, building on the work of the last six years: one focusing on imported mosquito-borne threats such as Zika and dengue; one addressing tick-borne diseases endemic in the UK such as Lyme; and one tackling high consequence infectious diseases, such as Ebola. The team are currently heavily involved in supporting the UK’s response to the novel coronavirus outbreak, which began at the end of December 2019 and is spreading across the globe.  Read the article at the University of Liverpool: https://news.liverpool.ac.uk/2020/01/27/8m-funding-boost-for-health-protection-research-on-infections/
