Exciting job opportunity - Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Statistical Epidemiology
Wed, 15 September 2021
The current COVID-19 pandemic is the greatest threat posed by a respiratory virus since the 1918 H1N1 influenza pandemic. This is an excellent opportunity for a bright and enthusiastic researcher to develop their career in statistical epidemiology within the internationally leading Department of Statistics in the University of Oxford at a critical time for this field. This role is key within the Epidemiology and Risk Assessment theme of the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Emerging and Zoonotic Infections.
As the successful Postdoctoral Research Assistant, you will hold a PhD/DPhil (or be close to completion) in a relevant field such as statistics, biostatistics, infectious disease epidemiology, epidemic modelling. You will have research experience in infectious disease epidemiology and possess sufficient specialist knowledge of statistical and epidemiological methods. You will have the ability to manage own academic research and associated activities and possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings. It would be desirable if you have experience of managing a discrete area of a research project (including planning, organising and problem-solving), but not essential.
